Plants in Practice: Practical Botany for Everyone
Saturday, April 26 • 10 AM–12 PM
Kauaʻi Community College, OCET 104 and lanai
Join Understory Alliance and Kauaʻi Community College for a welcoming, hands-on workshop all about how plants work—and how to care for them. You’ll learn the basics of plant health, pruning, planting, and harvesting, with simple tips you can use right away in your garden or community space.
We’ll also honor a Hawaiian lens in how we see, interact, and build our relationships with plants, recognizing plants as relatives, teachers, and living parts of the ecosystems we’re part of.
This is practical botany for everyone—rooted in science, grounded in community.
What to Expect:
A fun, hands-on experience where you’ll practice skills in real time and take home new knowledge (and maybe a few plants, too).
What to Bring:
A water bottle
Clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty
Optional: gardening gloves and a hat
No experience needed. Come ready to learn, connect, and grow.
